Nathan Hopper
Nathan Hopper is a lifelong Scout and seasoned executive with more than two decades of professional leadership in Scouting America. Currently serving as Scout Executive and CEO of the Buckeye Council, Nathan has dedicated his career to strengthening communities through sustainable growth, program innovation, and mission-focused leadership. His professional journey began in 2003 as a District Executive in Michigan, followed by roles of increasing responsibility in the Dan Beard and Buckeye Councils. As Chief Operating Officer of Buckeye Council for over nine years, Nathan led initiatives that drove consistent membership growth, expanded program participation, and secured vital resources to reinvest in youth development—all grounded in the fundamentals of field service and executed in partnership with exceptional staff and volunteers.
Nathan’s personal Scouting story began as a Tiger Cub in 1986 in Michigan and continued through multiple councils across the Midwest, culminating in earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 1997. He’s attended the National Jamboree, served on staff at Philmont and local camps, completed Wood Badge, is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, and remains active today as a Scoutmaster and Committee Member in Jackson Township, where his children, Caleb and Clara, continue their own Scouting adventures. Alongside his wife of 21 years, Cammie, Nathan finds joy in family travels—especially visiting National Parks, with 23 explored and counting. His 360-degree perspective as a Scout, parent, volunteer, and professional shapes his vision for expanding Scouting’s reach and impact across the region.
