Darren Rowland

Biography

Darren started in the Buckeye Council as a Cub Scout in pack 157 out of Magnolia.  He became a Boy Scout by joining Troop 132 out of North Canton and about 4 years later transferred to Troop 4 out of Canton.  While in scouting as a young scout he became a holder of a fifth-year pipestone, Ordeal member of the OA, and made 2 trips to Philmont Scout Ranch.

 

In 2007 Darren rejoined Buckeye Council as an Adult leader for Pack 87 out of Dover as a Tiger leader.  He progressed through the years as his one son’s Den leader.  In 2011 his twin sons Webelos 2 den asked him to recharter Troop 87 and he became the Scout Master of troop 87, which is the position he still currently holds.  In 2011 he also became the Tiger den leader for his youngest son.  Then in 2013 he became the Cub Master of Pack 87, which he still currently holds.  As his sons became involved in the OA program, he earned his Brotherhood with them.

 

As an Antelope, Darren attended Wood Badge course C-22-2010.  With the knowledge he learned from the Wood Badge course he became involved with the Neta District as Cub Scouts Activities Chair.  Darren continued the Neta District Webelos weekend, Pine Wood Derby Race, and Helping out at Day Camp.  Darren is currently the Advancement Chair for Neta District and a member of the Buckeye Council Advancement Committee.

 

Darren lives in Bolivar, Ohio where spends time with is 4 sons Kyle, Kory, Kurt, and Kasey.  Kyle, Kory, and Kurt have all earned their Eagle Scout Rank and Kasey is currently a Life Scout.  Darren and his sons enjoy exploring the outdoors of Ohio.  He was a graduate of The Ohio State University in 1990 with BS in Horticulture.  He has been an employee for Rices Landscapes Redefined for 34 for years.  Darren was also saved thru the works of the Promises Keepers program in 1996 and is a Member of Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, Ohio.  He was Baptized as an adult in 2017.

 

Darren enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and taking youth to Philmont Scout Ranch. 

He has enjoyed trips in 2015, 2017, 2019 and is planning to go again in 2021.   Darren is also member of crew 1944 where he helps in preserving the history of WWII with living history encampments.
