Important Information about Scout Summer Camp 2022

The safety of our campers, leaders, and staff is our top priority in the delivery of the Summer Camp experience at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation. We understand and share the concerns of those who worry that safety policies may limit the experience. By exercising our Duty to Others and adhering to these policies, we can help ensure that the camp experience takes place this Summer for your Scouts and those in subsequent weeks.

This update provides additional clarity on the policies announced on 6/24/22.
During Week 2 of summer camp (6/19-25), multiple participants became COVID positive. Therefore, we are reimplementing the COVID-19 policies that were in effect last year at camp. See below for additional updated details.

  • Required Pre-event Screening Form - this form must be completed on Sunday morning prior to leaving for camp and requires a parent/guardian signature. Anyone showing symptoms listed on the form or not feeling well should not attend camp. See below for additional details. This screen will be collected during medical check and additional screening questions will be asked.
  • Masking – Face masks must be worn whenever social distancing is not possible, whether indoors or outdoors. All participants are required to wear a mask in the dining hall (except when eating), merit badge classes, and camp-wide events such as chapel, campfires, etc. and other activities when social distancing cannot be maintained. Medically documented exceptions for masks will be honored.
  • Tenting – Troops are strongly encouraged to have participants tent individually. However, if that is not possible, campers can sleep head-to-toe in the camp-provided tents.
  • Social Distancing - Social distancing should still be maintained whenever possible during all activities.
  • Carpooling - Carpooling is not recommended. The best practice is to have members of the same household travel together.

Please help us to ensure the safety of our Scouts in camp during your week of camp and future weeks by following these policies. For questions, please contact CJ Gavin at or call the camp office at 330-580-4272 ext. 137 or 330-309-8239.

Bringing your troop to a week at Seven Ranges will be an unforgettable adventure. The best experience requires months of advanced planning and preparation. Please review this section in detail so that you and your Scouts arrive ready to hit the trail.

Key things to consider when preparing:

  • Merit badge registration is conducted based on the week you are attending camp. Week 1 participants register for merit badges on 4/9, Week 2 on 4/16, etc. When registering youth for certain merit badges, an associated program fee will be added to the troop’s camp registration fees. For example, youth participating in Shotgun Merit Badge will owe $10 for ammunition and targets. No youth will be permitted to participate in the Merit Badge Program, Pipestone, or other camp events without providing date of birth and current emergency contact info including an email in the registration system. Please do not wait until merit badge registration day to update this information!

  • Camp fees are based on when full payment is received. Save more by registering early and making full payment.

  • Unique traditions, including dining hall procedures and our camp honors program, set Seven Ranges Scout Reservation apart from other summer camps. Most requirements for camp honors must be completed in advance including collecting Pipestone wood, attending Good Turn Weekends, and various advancement-related activities. The specific requirements can be found later in this guide.
