The mission of the Buckeye Council is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The Buckeye Council and its predecessors have been providing quality youth programs in six Ohio counties: Wayne, Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas, Carroll and Columbiana, along with Hancock county, WV.
The Council has a professional staff of 9 positions and operates two outdoor program facilities; Camp McKinley, a 200 acre facility in Columbiana County and the 900 acre Seven Ranges Scout Reservation in Carroll County. Camp McKinley is home to the National Youth Leadership Training Course.
The Council is governed by a volunteer board of local business and community leaders.
Seven Ranges, the Council’s 900-acre outdoor facility in Carrol County, provides a superb natural setting for camping, water sports, and shooting sports. A full-time, camp ranger lives on-site providing support and ensuring the safety of campers.
A national Scout Shop, located in Canton, is a retail store offering uniforms, equipment, badges, hand-books and other scouting items. Adjacent to the Scout Shop is the Service Center, the central location for staff to provide information and assistance to volunteer leaders.
