Now is the time to register for the 2023 National Scout Jamboree at The Summit!  

Space is limited and on a first come, first serve basis.

 

WHAT IS THE JAMBOREE?
It’s a gathering of approximately 45,000 Scouts, leaders, and staff that showcases everything that is great about the BSA and its members.  Over the course of 10 summer days, once every four years, the Boy Scouts of America comes together at The Summit to have an experience of a lifetime.  Located on a sprawling 10,600 acres, the Summit includes more than 5 miles of zip line and challenge courses, 36 miles of mountain bike trails, and 13 acres of shooting sports ranges, as well as venues for kayaking, rock climbing, bouldering, skateboarding, BMX, and various other activities.  Now is your opportunity to join in on the fun and attend the 2023 National Scout Jamboree!

 

The Buckeye Council National Scout Jamboree Contingent will consist of Scouts from across the Council. We will be sending a full boy troop (36 boys + 4 adults) and a partial female troop (9 female scouts + 1 adult). All adult leaders must be approved by Buckeye Council (see below for adult leader details). l

Besides the National Scout Jamboree experience itself, there are many costs that are incurred in preparation for the event. These costs include (but may not be limited to):

  • National Jamboree Fee
  • Transportation to the Jamboree on 7/19/2023 and return transportation on 7/28/2023
  • Lock-In and shakedown on 7/18/2023 prior to departure
  • Meals to/from Ohio to the Jamboree
  • Buckeye Council Team Building Events
  • Council-provided tents
  • Dedicated Scouting professional and support staff to facilitate and assist in a successful Jamboree experience

YOUTH PARTICIPANTS

The National Scout Jamboree is open to all who are qualified on a first-come, first-served basis.  Qualifications to attend the National Scout Jamboree include:

Registered member of a Scout troop, who is at least 12 years old (but who has not yet reached their 21st birthday by 7/28/2023) by July 19, 2023. --OR--

  • Registered member of a Venturing Crew.
  • Must live and abide by the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Must abide by the Jamboree Code of Conduct.

Each Scout will be a member of a patrol within their patrol. Every contingent member will be required to participate in and have the following:

  • Mandatory troop or crew meetings
  • A completed National Jamboree Medical form signed by a licensed physician
  • Attend the all-contingent gathering
  • Attend an overnight training encampment.
  • Have all fees paid no later than March 31, 2023.

 

Adult Leader Qualifications for the 2023 National Scout Jamboree

The Buckeye Council will be sending FIVE adult leaders to the Jamboree. Four of these adults will be attending with the Boy Troop and one adult will attend with the partial girl troop (the partial girl troop will be grouped with another council's girl troop that will have 3 other adult leaders). 

All adult applicants must:

  • Be willing and able to dedicate significant time and effort to recruit youth participants and prepare the contingent for the jamboree.
  • Time Commitment: Monthly meetings and two Saturday orientation meetings ensure that the contingent is prepared for an experience of a lifetime.
  • Communications, logistics, equipment planning and project management.
  • Be a currently registered member of a Scout Troop and be Youth Protection Trained within 6 months of the start of the Jamboree
  • Have taken the following trainings: Hazardous Weather and Safety Afloat
  • Be approved by the Buckeye Council

PRICING AND REGISTRATION

Jamboree pricing is based on when a $500 deposit is made. 

  • Early Registration = April 1, 2022 - June 15, 2022 = $2,000
  • Regular Registration = June 16, 2022 - November 15, 2022 = $2,100
  • Late Registration = November 16, 2022 - April 1, 2023 = $2,200

Jamboree fees include everything listed above. Other out-of-pocket expenses may include (but are not limited to) additional uniforms, patches, and spending money.

Full payment must be received no later than March 31, 2023 in order for the participant to attend. 

The following is the payment schedule for the 2023 National Jamboree (although more may be paid in advance):

Payment Schedule:

  • $500 deposit during initial registration
  • 5/31/2022 - Payment 1 - $250
  • 7/31/2022 - Payment 2 - $250
  • 8/31/2022 - Payment 3 - $250
  • 10/30/2022 - Payment 4 - $250
  • 12/31/2022 - Payment 5 -  $250
  • 2/28/2023 - Payment 6 - $250

If for some reason a participant is unable to attend, a refund may be considered minus the non-refundable amount of $250 that has been paid to the National Jamboree. If for some reason a participant is unable to attend and is able to fill his/her spot with another eligible participant, a full refund minus the initial deposit will be approved.

  • Late Registration = November 16, 2022 - April 1, 2023 = $2,200
