!! Attention All Catholic Scouts !!
The Catholic Committee on Scouting is announcing its invitation to all Youngstown Diocesan scouts, both male and female, to take part in earning their religious award for this upcoming year. There are awards for every age group within the Scouting organization: Cubs, Boys, Girls and Camp Fire, with some only requiring instruction from a parent or guardian. Other awards require attending local sessions, which are at this time accepting registrations for the 2010 - 2011 calendar year. Classes are scheduled to start in Sept. and October and are available throughout the Diocese. If you wish to learn more about what your Catholic faith offers in terms of awards please contact Bob Granchie at 330-755-7205 or at bobgranchie@sbcglobal.net (Using “Religious Awards” in the subject line). Canton area scouts are asked to contact Leo Koller at 330-455-1600.
Please consider taking this opportunity to deepen your faith. It’s an awesome way to combine both the Holy Spirit and the Scouting Spirit within your lives. And receive a cool medal to boot! Thank you and God bless.

Scoutmasters,
If your Troop is charted to a Catholic Church or Knights of Columbus and you have a Scout earning his Eagle, he is entitled to receive the National Catholic Committee on Scouting's and the Knight's of Columbus's Certificate of Recognition. The Scout does not have to be Catholic to receive this award, just a member of a Catholic Scouting unit.
For Troops not chartered by a Catholic church or organization, if you have a Catholic Scout earning his Eagle, he is also entitled to the National Catholic Committee on Scouting's and the Knight's of Columbus Certificate of Recognition. Please forward the name of the Scout and Unit number to:
Eric Prather at ericprather@sbcglobal.net or (330) 854-6443 or (330) 705-4883.
For Catholic units, if you have adults very involved with your troop program, that you would like to give a special thanks to, Catholic or non-Catholic, you can nominate them for the Bronze Pelican or St Georges awards. Deadline for award nominations is October 31st.
Please contact Leo Koller at (330) 455-1600 with Adult nominations.
