Buckeye Council Day Camps
are operated in each district by volunteers. The cost for
this year's camp is 65 dollars before the 15th of May for June Day Camp and
before June 15th for July Day Camp. After the 15th, the
cost is 85 dollars. Camperships are available to those with financial need.
The staff is trained and organized by the Day Camp Directors and
Program Directors. The camps are inspected and meet National Camp Standards.
The Camp Directors and Program Directors are all nationally certified by the
National Camp School of the Boy Scouts of America.
Day Camps in the Buckeye
Council start on Monday morning of their respective week and conclude Friday
afternoon. Several Day Camps, with pools and lifeguards, offer swimming in
their program. Archery, BB guns, nature, handicrafts, games, songs, stunts,
skits, leatherwork, and fishing are activities the boys have taken part in.
The theme and several projects are
the same throughout the council. Each camp director and staff adds
it's own unique flair that gives each boy varied opportunities based on the
location.
This year the
theme is Knights of the Roundtable and new activities will be introduced to enhance that theme.
Packs
typically register as units but individual boys
may attend any camp through out the council. Each unit is responsible for
providing parents (called walkers). Adults are encouraged to volunteer,
to assist dens as they move from activity to activity.
Day Camp
is a great way for your Pack to meet one of the
monthly requirements for the
Summertime Pack Award. |

monthly pack activity during June, July, and August. By doing this, packs
support the BSA's goal for Cub Scouting--being a
year-round program, September through August.
The
Summertime Pack Award is an important component of the Quality Unit Program, and
is one of the requirements for the National Quality Unit Award
Summertime Pack Awards are
offered at various levels:
