A Letter from our 2008 Camp Director

Dear Scouts and Scouters,

It is my distinct pleasure to serve as your Reservation Director in 2008. I am looking forward to yet another productive and exciting summer at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation.

The Scouting program has been training the youth of America for their future for nearly a century. This training consists of instilling the three aims of the program which are Citizenship, Character Development and Personal Fitness. This country has been led by individuals who learned these values at an early age. Notable Eagle Scouts include individuals such as President Gerald Ford, Neil Armstrong and Travis Secrest…..er I mean Secretary Robert Gates. This summer, we will celebrate the fact that this program which we love so much is teaching us valuable lessons which we will need in the future.

Andrew McPeek will be leading the way this summer as our Program Director of Camp Algonkin and Camp Calumet. As we focus on the future which this program promises, our camp theme for 2008 will be “Who you are now Becoming.” I am sure that Andy and the rest of the summer camp staff will offer a number of surprises.

In camp Akela, our Webelos Resident Camp, Gary Deprill will return for another summer. Having worked closely with Gary, I know that he will put on a great program for our Webelos scouts. The summer camp theme in Camp Akela will be “The Pirates of Akela.”

Of course, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. We are here to serve you and your unit.

In the Spirit of 7R,

Travis Secrest

A Letter from our 2008 Program Director

Dear Scouts and Scouters,

On behalf of the camp staff, I would like to thank and welcome each and every one of you to Seven Ranges Scout Reservation, ver. 2008. I am very excited for this summer, and so is our dedicated and motivated Directors Core. We have started early, as always, to ensure a quality week at camp. The camp staff is here to ensure that you and your unit have a great week in camp.

This year’s theme will be, “Who you are now Becoming.” We will be focusing on how the “now” may directly influence or effect who you will become as a person and what you will accomplish in this world. We will explore how the scouting movement teaches us lessons and ideals that help to make us better people. As leaders, we will discover what it truly means to shape and inspire the men of tomorrow, today.

I am looking forward to working hand in hand with my close friends, Reservation Director Travis Secrest, and Commissioner Director, Nathan Steele. Nathan, the Commissioners Staff and the rest of our experienced directors and staff will be ready to facilitate and serve your needs. I am confident in each and every one of our staff members and their abilities. They are anxious to provide yet another quality program and merit badge instruction.

I look forward to serving you as your Program Director for the 2008 summer camping season.

Yours in Scouting,

Andy McPeek
